Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Makes one wonder just how a small brook and pool can turn into a savage, raging river at every turn...gathering more and more momentum.

I'm so pleased you took us along for the trip ... unmissable I'd say. You've caught two of the many moods of water quite beautifully here. Mike

I might do a class 5 if I had an experienced guide and other experienced people in the raft. But I'd prefer to stay with class 4. :-) We have one spot near here that I've done 4 times - a tame class 3 but I did go into it backwards in a scanoe and had to leave myself to the water's mercy - that was my first time through it. :-) I had to do it 3 times more to prove to it and me that I was smart enough to do it right. Great comparison shots.

Nice contrast in these shots of the Merced River, with those ominous looking rocks, Marilyn. Now that is a real transition, from calm and serene, all the way to rip roaring. And what is this "class" business? Do they rate river flow like they do hurricanes and earthquakes? Just too much for my backwoods mind. And, agreed, water is ultra powerful stuff.

Great contrast in states of water. You are right, water is a powerful thing. I can only imagine some of the sites you saw hiking along the river... :)
