Description

Perhaps one of the most viewed places in Yosemite are these falls**. It's one of the few that doesn't dry up, though later the water doesn't make it to the bottom. I've included links about these falls, and also about the original formation*** of the Yosemite Valley. It's beyond awesome to think of this being a glacier, that it was once just a massive ice flow. PJ (Mrs Lubner) asked in one of my other posts what happened to the other half of Half Dome~~I think this might answer her question; it simply got chopped off as the glacier moved down the valley. **click here ***click here

I have read so much about Yosemite and the different formations and reasons for them. the history of that area is like no other in the US...the Grand Canyon coming the closest I believe. And still, it is not done. Sitting on a massive super volcano that runs through at least 1/3 rd of the US...it will change in dramatic ways yet... this is so beautiful. There are so many different pieces of the earth's history to be found here.

Stellar POV, colors, lighting, textures and dynamics in this fine capture, Marilyn! The person who coined the phrase, "you can't cry over spilt milk," would have a cardiac arrest if he/she ever saw that massive amount of milk-like liquid continually pouring over the cliff.

Superb shot! You've been visiting an interesting, post-glacial and still geologically active place! Nice to see it while it's still there. Nature has a way of rearranging things, as the waterfalls and glacier carved rocks show. Back when I was stateside, I saw a documentary about the super volcano lurking under there...it's deliciously eerie stuff. As for your capture here, WOW...impressive. The water looks quite powerful and it's stunningly captured! Great work, especially with your use of light.
