I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Just to be able to see one of these awesome creatures is beyond wonderful; I love this foto, he does seem a little bored with it all!! And I swear, between you and Bruce, I'm starting to count the days as well!!!

Baby, are you sure that is a yawn and not the lion intentionally showing the rangers his bad tooth. Question for all those out there practicing Veterinary Medicine, just how much does it cost to cap a a lion's tooth? Great shot!! Marilyn, thanks for counting with us... Love you Carin...hugs, kisses and smiles Bruce

wow he looks sleepy, and not someone you'd want to run across in a dark field.. he looks like how I feel right now with revision eating into my sleepy time!

Excellent capture, the only time I'd get close enough to snap one of these is when I can afford the 10,000MM telephoto lens LOL!

I watch the documentaries of Africa and the preserves there ,and wish I could travel in them and see all those magnificent creatures - know they are safe where they are and living the free life. To think that humans and lions can co-exist so well (with caution of course) is amazing. Here people get excited and hunt down so much as a coyote that might be seen in their area saying their children are in danger and their precious pooch might be the creature's dinner... A stunning shot here and I am envious to no end. ... And I will stand by on that countdown as well... :-)

that yawn is contagious, great shot Carin.

Excellent capture Carin. It looks like this male Lion has a Rotten Teeth or is it just some leftover meet on his teeth?
goodoleboy
Lots of vivid color and dynamics in this candid shot, Carin. And I didn't know you were expecting. Another photographer on the way. Lots of luck during the remaining months of your pregnancy.

Nice! We don't have dangerous animals around where we live. I guess the only animal that comes close would be the black bear but they're more of a nuisance than a danger - Still, I've seen a few huge ones while driving that I wouldn't want to run into when I'm hiking in the bush.

very regal and domineering. perfect timing

Great shot! I love the sense of color you've captured, and the broken fang is a great touch! Wonderfully seen and perfectly timed. Being a Leo, I have a certain soft spot for lions, and this is a great capture.
