Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I used to climb [including with the Snowdon Mountain Rescue team] when I was at college in Chester - until at the age of 35 I suddenly developed acrophobia. Now I can hardly bear to watch TV sequences including heights. Thanks for showing these great photographs, particularly since I'm extremely unlikely ever to see them in person. Mike

Very well done. 5+.

Well captured! In the beginning of one of the "Star Trek" movies Kirk is climbing this rock, gives you a good idea of what it might feel like looking down...someone else, please, not me!

WOW. I'll do lots of things, but defying gravity without all sorts of substantial pieces of machinery? NO thanks! These are impressive photos, and I love the capture of the shadows that define the HUGE granite structures! Great work...and I'm pleased to say that the only teeny, tiny thing I'll ever sleep in will be no higher than a few inches off of a really stable floor!

I used to climb tall chimney's for bets as a teen, now it takes me all I've got to climb the stairs at bed time.Lol. I've seen them attach small tents to the rockface and slep in them, what puzzles me is what do you do for the toilet, 'three days'? I would hate to be the climber below.lol. Excellent capture of this impressive rock, shame about the climber, I hope he didn't fall whilst posing for you. Bravo!!!!!

At one time they thought this was the largest solid rock in the world. Even lager than the Rock of Gibraltar, but alas it is the rock in the Great Outback that is largest!!!

E x c e l l e n t ! Splendid captures of the celebrated and imposing El Capitan granite structure, Marilyn! Plenty of sharp and craggy stuff to go around. Isn't there a train called The El Capitan? I went in for a zoom shot and found the subject matter rather out of focus. Sorry about that.
