Description

2nd post from my trip to the Gulf Coast last weekend. This is a fence designed to jump-start the sand dune restoration from the devastation sustained on Santa Rosa Island from the evil Hurricane Ivan that landed nearby on September 16, 2004. The fence catches the sand in the blowing winds, and once a small sand dune is formed as pictured here, the sand dune itself catches even more sand. Then some vegetation shows up to help out, and eventually the sand covers the fence. This was taken late in the afternoon just a few minutes before sunset last Sunday. My companion Leah, A.K.A. Lil' Sizzler took as many photographs as I did, so be sure to check out her gallery for more beautiful views of the Gulf Coast area. My first post entitled "Minutes Past Sunrise" was taken the following morning and catches a vibrant moment of the early morning surf on Santa Rosa Island. The area is still recovering from the affects of Hurricane Ivan, and even though the many 100 year old oak trees that were lost will take another 100 years to replace, recovery is well on the way! Thanks for stopping by! marshall

Love the waves created by the sand and the fence. And the feel of wind created by the grass.
