Description
This was taken last Sunday evening at Pensacola Beach on Santa Rosa Island, looking back towards the Florida mainland. That's the intercoastal waterway in between the two.
It never ceases to amaze me how fast the sun sets once it hits the horizon. The entire fiery ball slipped below our vision in less than a minute! After it moved on to the other side, we just stood there staring at where we'd last seen it, not unlike one would upon opening up the front door to your home and finding it completely empty.
One moment it was the absolute dominate spot in the sky. The center of everything. And in the wink of an eye, it was gone. And so eerily quiet too. That's when I first noticed the ever present pelicans and seagulls had vanished just as quickly.
We just stood there in the approaching darkness watching the still lit horizon with the continuing breeze dancing all over our bodies. Looking back eastward behind us the full moon was already high in the sky, framed by some puffy pink clouds still in the path of direct sunlight from a day that had already ended.
Yet another magical moment in the journeys of Marshall & Leah!
My previous post, Growing Sand Dunes was taken about 20 minutes before this one.
Thanks for visiting!
