Description

Juan Angel This image is made with slide KodaChrome ISO 100 Camera: Konica TCX. 35-70 mm zoom. Scan Epson Perfection 1250, 300 dpi. Automatic translation: Carballo´s Fair Today we're going fair, the Fair Carballo. Let's turn of history and spirituality to bustle, the explosion of colors, the music of bagpipes and panderos, the mixture of odors, and becoming gastronomical variety of marketing. The Fair in Galicia maintains that spirit even medieval characterized him. Every weekend there is a fair in somewhere, and everywhere there is a market, music, dance… The posts are makeshift desk in many cases, banks harvest or cages of animals, since they are sold live. And after the market: the food. All parties have a title: The feast of Trout, Pepper, the Octopus, the barnacle, mussel, clam, the cockles, Sardine, Empanada…. Even the humble potato has its own festival. The fair serves to meet people, find friends and to return to the world in a place where most people live in towns that do not exceed 1000 inhabitants. The field of loneliness and solitude of the sea are appalling here to blow bagpipes, with a good meal and a warm drink in front of Alvarigno. The Carballo, is the most important fairs in the region and is celebrated on first and third Sunday of the month. Carballo is the name of the people, in addition to so called Galician oak, hence the variety of locations with this toponym: Carballo, Carballal, Carballigno, etc.. That day, my old Konica started to show symptoms of exhaustion and only I could get this picture. As in any good trip through the St. Jacques Way, a journey that broke my boots (made for walking) and retire my camera. They could not do anything more for me. The boots were not in Finisterre as is the tradition (tendria that have become barefoot), but in Vigo. The Konica, after a last touch surgical even works, but deservedly rests on my showcase collection of antique cameras. They had a good death!. Thank you, gang, for your comments and views. Juan Angel
