Description

After we left Smith Rock, we decided to head out to Prineville to see the courthouse. This is what the scenery looked like on the way. (I took this out the side window while Jill was driving.) This part of Oregon is high desert, and there are mesas and buttes and canyons everywhere. Do you ever see something and take the picture with a certain person in mind, knowing they'll want to see it? This is for Doug (Unstrung65) because he hasn't been there, loves that sort of landscape, and told me every day for two weeks before I left to take a LOT of pictures! :)

.....Tara, dear! --- Just gotta love those freakin' mesa's ! - ehhh ? -------- great road trip shot ---- makes me just want to head off across the field and climb that sucker......( would probably get shot by the local land owner ! ).......not sure why I am like this - normal people don't seem to be affected by the dusty - dry - HOT ! desert ....guess - it's partly because I like the earth forms uncovered - not masked by foliage .....anyway - I might venture to suppose - that some of your commenters might want you to get back to the more verdant & colourful subject matter ...( horticultural type fare , for instance ) ....but I'll take all the desert you can fire at us..........thanks ever so.

Oh my, I thought buttes and mesas like this were strictly the stuff of New Mexico! Learn something new every day. Although it doesn't project that Southwestern beige desert effect, it's still a fine shot considering the circumstances, Tara! Hope you had a good time in the booming metropolis of Prineville.

Wonderful scenery shot, Tara. Oregon is so diversified in it's scenery, from trees to flatlands, to beaches. Love the state!

I love the mesas and buttes of the east side, and it certainly would be nice to have 300 days of sunshine a year. But I would miss the green of the east side. I hope you took the time to drive up to the top of the butte that overlooks Prineville. There's a great view of the city from there.

Doug ain't on his own, I love these type of shots as well, I do like a mixture of both though. I love pictures of desert area's as much as forest pictures. I guess I love pictures of almost everything there is to photograph. And of course anything that you post dear lady, my climbing days are over but like Jocko, I would love to drive up for a view from the top. I was always fasinated by this sort of landscape in the cowboy and indian movies of my childhood. They were bare though this one has some greenery atop it. Fantastic shot Tara, the fence posts in the foreground giving a sense of motion, the messa solid has a rock. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

A captivating scene! The grass is most beautiful and makes me want to run through this free space of land, hair blowing in the slight breeze! I love the neutral colour of the sky, seems like the most perfect weather- not too cold, and not too hot! Just a beautiful capture Tara!
