Description
several years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Manila American cemetery in Manila Philippines.I was in awe of so many graves of soldiers.yesterday I found out that it holds more soldiers from WWII than any other-more than 17,000 graves.it was my first time to view a military cemetery and I had a huge lump in my throat coming to the realization of the huge sacrifice.one can hear in school,on radio, and tv but seeing in person puts a whole new light on the tragedy of war
this is a hover fly and it is less than 1 inch long.thanks for viewing and any comments

oh, richard, i know exactly how you felt...when i went to see the wall in D.C. for the Vietnam fallen, tears rolled down my face...one has to have it pushed into our faces sometimes to realize just how many people have died in all these crazy wars...

Wonderful collage Richard. I visited Normandy's invasion beaches in 1998 and saw several military cemeteries. I had the same feeling you had when you were in the Philippines, Sig....

A great collage you have here, they are super captures. I'm sure those huge cemetaries are very sad to visit but they would certainly make you more aware. That cemetary has more in it than our whole town.

Super photos! Thanks for sharing my friend!

Excellent images! Well put together as a collage, as well. We were in Normandy a few years ago. It is astounding how many are buried there. You can see the numbers in the history lessons, but it really doesn't register until you see the endless headstones, both men and women, and most died on the same day.

What amazing photos Richard! I especially like the ones where you caught him in mid-flight. Thanks also for the information about the cemetery. I think we have become so accustomed to the media that the numbers don't have as much of an impact. Lea

We have an american military cemetery near my hometown. I know it is huge (10000 graves). And we have celebrated Memorial Day with american official persons last Sunday. Your collage is a great dedication to these soldiers !
