Description

On my way home from the Garden Center, I saw an Eagle soaring high in the sky. I wanted to stare at her and watch, but I was driving. As my eyes went back to the road, I spotted a huge nest. In the nest, I saw a Bald Eagle just sitting. :| Did I have my camera? NOPE! ~ Grrrr ~ I knew they'd be around a while, so I went back there yesterday. I used my 300mm lens with the 2X, and of course, tripod .. but only became frustrated because no matter how careful I was to press that button, it was a blurry image. Plus, it's a setup that won't auto-focus; so I had to manually focus. Do I trust my eyes? lol So, finally, I decided to take the 2X off, take it off the tripod, and only then was I able to get some decent shots. Cars slowed way down to see what I was doing - It was embarrassing, but I didn't care. I kept on taking pictures .. a couple hundred about. I thought it would be appropriate to upload one of them on this day --- Memorial Day --- A day of remembrance. Have a wonderful day ... thanks for stopping by! Shari

What a magnificent bird it is and so much more significant because it was captured in the wild. Great POV and excellent pose. It is very appropriate for Memorial day.

Intersting story so thanks for the description! Seems you had not the best light so it's a pity that the head is a bit overexposed to exposure the body in the right way. Nevertheless a nice shot! :)

Thanks, Shari, for your little story 'Trials of a Wildlife Photographer!' ... I do admire your patience and resourcefulness immensely. This timely photograph of such an elusive subject hits the right notes on Memorial Day. Hugs, Mike x

Shari's a wonderful photographer - If she told me that she had to climb a tree to get the right shot, I'd say: "yep, that's Shari; always willing to suffer for her art." :-)

LOL, why would it be embarrassing to be stopped and taking pictures of this amazing bird. I would have blocked off the road. Excellent shot Shari.

Don't be embarressed gal, get out there and do your thing, like Lynell says block the road till you have your best shot. Superb capture, even more so as it was in the wild. We don't see wild eagles much in the UK, unless like a couple of years back, when one escaped. It was seen in my area, but I never found it. Excellent work, you really are a star. Bravo!!!!!

Seeing them in the wild is such a thrill. I once camped by a lake that had 4 breeding pairs monitored by the Fish and Game. Awesom.
