Description

During sunset or any other time of the day, Spider Rock in Arizona is a truly amazing and mystical place. For some 230 million years, water has come rushing and swirling down this river. It used to flow around a particular outcropping with a high density core, which--as seen in this picture--is all that remains standing after eons of erosion taking its toll. In order to get a sense of the scale of this natural wonder, look carefully at the floor of the canyon where you can see little riverlets and walkways. Imagine standing underneath this towering, majestic colossus!! It stands with awesome dignity and beauty over 800 feet high in Arizona's colorful Canyon de Chelly National Park (pronounced da Shay).

Thanks! This is one of my true, real favs. One just can't imagine the scale of this behemoth unless one has stood in front of it. It's definitely one of the most magnificent natural wonders of the world. Peering over the ledge and taking this photo was something special that I shall never forget.

I must say as an introductory image it's one of the best I have seen, I don't think anybody would ever forget being there, something special is a bit of an understatement. Something spectacular is nearer the mark. #:0). Superb photography. Bravo!!!!!

A truly monumental photo, in more than one sense of the word! I especially like the light and shadow and although I have only taken photos for pleasure, I think this looks perfect! Lea
