Hello! Unfortunately I dont know the name of this gorgeous flower. I took the shot In a garden centre, I visited the other day. flowers never cease to reveal their mysteries to you...here you captured an almost 'plastic' quality, like they were made of some resilient polymer, they're so shiny and bold; you even got their little hairs (the one on our left). And then they look like a couple, one open & one closed, waiting for a bus or posing for their children. And they're surrounded by a sea of rich unfocussed green. You really see the variety in flowers; and really, they should send you a thank you note. (Lucky Anna.) Oh, and since you give the weather, it's freezing in Chicago, so send some sun our way...A lovely shot.

The flower looks like a Hibiscus to me, but I could be wrong. Your photograph is beautiful, with such gorgeous red captured. Your dedication is so sweet and caring, Helle.

What a beautifully composed macro photograph. The detail superb and the colours fantastic. The full size view is incrediable. I think its related to the Hibiscus family as well.

Marvelous shot, the flower which is closed reminds me of a moth with closed wings, although I could never imagine a moth this deep red. I must agree with phill456 that viewing full-size, the detail is amazing. Well done to you!

A most beautiful shot of red Hibiscus flowers. So wonderful they shine, you can so well see the nerves in the petals, they are so alive and come so near to me that I can touch them. Wonderfully contrasted to the different greens. Thanks for bringing this beauty to my newly awakened eyes, have just got up from my nap.

I knew this one right away. I have a soft yellow one... its the Red Flowering Maple. http://www.smgrowers.com/products/plants/plantdisplay.asp?plant_id=2705 will give you a little information on it. This is gorgeous and I must look now for one to plant next to my yellow one.
