He querido subir una imagen especial para mi, en un dia especial,, ya que ayer alcance las 10.000 visitas a mi galeria. Uf, que fuerte!. Y que responsabilidad, a partir de ahora, al saber de tantos ojos observando mis imágenes!. Gracias a todas y a todos una vez mas por el honor que me haceis.
El faro de El Fin del Mundo
Pese a la paz y serenidad que desprende la imagen, no hay que equivocarse, el Cabo Vilan (tambien llamado Vilano o Villano, este ultimo nombre da razon de su esencia) es cualquier cosa menos eso. De el se ha dicho que podria ser el lugar en que el principe Hamlet edificara su castillo. Azotado incansablemente por los vientos, sus piedras han sido erosionadas hasta ser autenticas navajas para las quillas de las embarcaciones.
Estamos en el corazón de la Costa de la Muerte (El Corazon de las Tinieblas).
Cientos de barcos han naufragado en estas aguas, unas de las mas peligrosas del mundo para la navegación costera. Todos los años hay algun desastre maritimo.
El de mayor repercusión fue el del Prestige, cuyo fuel (chapapote) derramado desde Gibraltar hasta Francia, provoco, la Marea blanca, miles de voluntarios de todo el mundo se movilizaron para limpiar con sus manos lo que los modernos piratas y mercenarios mancharon y estuvieron a punto de destruir para siempre. Uno de los ultimos paraísos.
El Caso mas novelesco fue el del Serpent, a finales del siglo XIX. The Serpent era un buque ingles que hacia la ruta de India con la paga de las tropas coloniales. Pasando Vilan , entre los cabos de Veo y Tosto, casi 300 personas perdieron sus vidas una noche en la que se desataron las fuerzas del Infierno. Los habitantes de las poblaciones de alrededor acudieron en carro o a pie en su auxilio, pero poco habia que hacer, salvo cavar una fosa comun donde dar sepultura a irreconocibes restos humanos de escasas dimensiones.
El Gobierno Ingles, en agradecimiento a los voluntarios, regalo un a escopeta al alcalde de Camarignas, un reloj al cura y el barómetro del Serpent al pueblo (aun se conserva en una urna expuesta en la calle).
Hoy, en la Ensenada de Trece, bajo la mirada vigilante del Faro de Vilan, como un poderoso Angel Guardian, descansan sus retos aun en un diminuto tumulo. El lugar, azotado incansablemente por el viento del noroeste, desprende una profunda soledad y una lejana tristeza que contrasta con la belleza salvaje del entorno.
En las fiestas, durante la Procesion del Mar, el llegar a esta zona se lanzan coronas funerarias al mar en memoria de estos naufragos y de todos los muertos por la mar . Tambien la Armada Inglesa ha seguido lanzando salvas de honor al pasar por el lugar.
En su memoria y como muestra de agradecimiento a todos los voluntarios del mundo en causas ecologicas y humanitarias, ve dedicada esta imagen.
