Description
This is rhododendron season here and they're blooming everywhere, in so many colors, it's amazing. After they bloom, though, they leave a huge mess, the petals are sticky, they get tracked in on your shoes, the cat, the dog, everything. I was helping a friend in her yard last week, and swept piles and piles of the blossoms off her deck. But as I was doing that, I saw how beautiful they looked, all white and pink, with the light and shadows. As always, nature gives us beauty in the most unexpected places!!

I have a similar thing in my backyard under the arched garden trellis. My climbing wild red rose has gone through its first flush of blooms and all the red petals are laying under it on the cobble stones. this is a lovely shot and a really calming one.

A carpet of petals - how romantic... But then again - I see romance in everything lately. grin I'm back from my trip and we must make a plan over the weekend to catch up!! :)

Peter Piper plucked a phethora of potentially potent plums from among this plenitude of pink petals! You can add Jacaranda trees to the list. They deposit lovely pink petals all over the ground, especially this time of the year. Stark contrast between light and dark in this shot, Marilyn.

Sticky is right! I can feel my fingers sticking together just thinking about them. I wonder if the superglue people have considered rhododendrons?

I used to play hide and seek(as a child mind) amongst the rhododendron bushes at an abandoned garden up at the big house. I remember well the sticky sap from these flowers and buds especially. We used to throw them at each other, and I don't know why but my mother used to play merry hell when I got home at night. Lol. Another excellent shot of something I would never think of doing, a pile of dropped petals. Just goes to show, there is beauty in all sorts of places, it's just a matter of having an eye for it. Superb work, both the shot and the sweeping up. Bravo!!!!!
