Description

This is the land who belongs to Sidi and Sala. They are living in Northern Senegal and we met them thanks to our friend Serge, who is in this country since many years. As you can see in this picture, the ground is mainly made of sand. But a well, which was dug some years ago, allows to grow many vegetables which (with the cattle and the poultry) are feeding this big family. I thank Elcet for the postwork of this image.

Techdata: Nikon D50 with Nikkor 3.5-4.5/18-70 Pro ED at shortest focal length and full aperture, 1/1250s, auto-white balance for the main photo. As most of people were turned back, we added a cute young girl in the foreground, taken from another photo, to the BG image. We had the chance that her lighting was just the same, in fact I shot her some minutes away of the BG image and in the same environment. She is one of the many children of the family. We pasted her on the landscape, and she was isolated thanks to a Layer Mask. It is not a true panorama, just a cropped wideangle shot. Postwork done in Photoshop CS3 Extended.

A very wonderful shot! The girl in the forground really makes this photo more than just a view of the scene but draws the viewer into their world a little bit.

The little girl in the foreground is so cute! This creates an interesting opposition with the panorama format of the BG image.
