i know i'm horribly behind on comments and communications, and i shouldn't post before commenting. it's just that i've decided to start posting more of what i have, even though things have been very, very hectic recently. also, i decided to try posting my raw renders, mainly because i've seen so many (heated) discussions about postwork. i wanted to make it clear what i've done and haven't done. i figure i'll see how people react, what they think.
so here's a raw render from some time back. it includes some very nice freebies, but i can't remember the author. in a bit, i'll post the final version.
i hope all is well with everyone, and that you're all enjoying the people you love. ArtPearl, love your most recent post and i'll be commenting soon. Rutra and bogart137, i know i'm behind, but i'll try to catch up soon.

I like this one a lot. Its amazing to me how much a couple of simple primitives can add to an image. Seems like half way to abstract. Her pose follows the curve of the sphere perfectly, and at the same time she looks so comfortable and relaxed. The only thing that cothers me is her hair. I wonder if you did anything to it in post:) To add my thought to the post work debate - ANYTHING is 'allowed' in art. I wish I could use more CG tools. It is nice to know what an artist used, but even that I dont think is mandatory. The only 'no no' is if merchants do not disclose post work. It is the buyers right to have a fair description of his purchase. So postwork away - as long as you keep posting! PS thanks for the mention - maybe a few more people will look:)

we all know you've been watching tv instead on commenting - lol... tv? what's that? I'm laughing, because this last year I have taught myself to go without it... I catch my news on the net... the only thing I miss is Jay Leno and he'll be gone soon - bummer... I saw your other picture, they both look good... this one I thought she'd be nude because you put "raw"

A little pale, but very pretty! As a rough render, it's very good! DO keep up the good work. DPH

I fully agree with ArtPearl about the postwork statements. In former times, I used to think of postwork a bit like cheating but not anymore. Now I see it as an integral (and most of the times, necessary) part of the construction of an image. Comparing this image and the postworked version, I must say I prefer the latter. By the way, the postwork was spot on, all the things that I could criticize on the raw version were fixed in the postwork. So, excellent job for that. Like ArtPearl, I also like a lot how her body follows the sphere. It's fascinating how such a simple set worked wonders. And don't worry about late commenting on my images, I'm also not very regular myself. :-) Just concentrate on creating stuff, that's the important thing!

Now THIS is a great work. Some good realism showing through with the contact shadows and soft yet realistic lighting.
