Description
Tower of London...
From the same day out as the previous few shots i had in London. Interesting day out with a few togs from another site. Again this is a more "study" type shot, here i was going for the textures and contrasts.
If there is interest i'll put up a tutorial showing you how to get what i did out of this photo using a few techniques designed to bring out contrast and give it that textured "3d" look. For reference this link will show you the original image which came from the sensor (flat RAW conversion). As you can see, digital photography isnt all about having a great lens and camera and hoping that will make the shot better, you need to know what to do with what the sensor gives you - and that is where processing comes in. And that is why i think those who go for the "straight from camera" approach are missing the point... letting the camera decide how to "process" the image, whilst good for speed and ease of use sometimes, is just a cop out if you have the means to process RAW images. It is like a film photographer buying standard film and getting it processed at Jessops, rather than buying the right film for the job and developing it himself/herself.
Anyway
Enjoy!
Rich
