Description

Back to Hawaii National Park at the volcano again. Did not visit the lava flow because of the barricade by civil defense. This area here, lava flowed in 1974 creating these little rock formation. You won't see it from the highway but a little walk will do you good. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Well even so it is amazing how nature has reclaimed so of the terrain.. I have been to some volcanic islands even after a 100 years still look barren.. Another great shot for your superb series

nature takes what it wants, when it wants it. Mt. St. Helens came back so quickly after its explosion (of course, that was ash and gas rather than lava flow...) I can see here that the Island is pushing to "fill in the gaps." Excellent shot.

I've seen videos of what happened here, it's awesome to see how nature comes back, brings more beauty to the land. And you are so right, a little walk is always good for the soul!! It's my favorite meditation.

Interesting that things are starting to grow again even after being so hot. I like the shapes of the lava as it has cooled.
