Description

Mornin' All *S* In the ancient Greek religion Artemis Caryatis was an epithet of Artemis that was derived from the city of Karyae in Laconia.
There an open-air temple was dedicated to Carya, the Lady of the Nut-Tree, whose priestesses were called the Caryatidai. Carya was a virgin who had been transformed into a nut-tree for her unchastity with Dionysus.
This particular form of veneration of Artemis at Caryae suggests that in pre-classical ritual Carya was the goddess of the nut tree who was later assimilated into the Olympian goddess Artemis.
Each year women performed a dance called the Caryatis
at a festival in honor of Artemis Caryatis. * * * Enjoy your history lesson? ...class dismissed :o) Wishing everyone a super day and as always, thanks so much for comments n faves !!! ~ Love & Hugs ~ * Mina * Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Credits: www.mjranum.deviantart.com www.aethereality.net

You really master your style Mina. Interesting nut lesson too. I didn't know that. Maybe i should learn the nut dance too.. even if its for women ;) The colouring is amazing on this picture..and the rest of your gallery too .. It surprise me every time to see how much you can obtain from a very narrow palette(meaning few colours). The nuts with the universe in the background is great. Very original model pose too... it has the same grace as the statue of liberty.
