Description

I've been through a lot of emotions lately, beginning with our 1st child graduating from High School, and now this week, we've been preparing for the big Graduation party starting at noon today. Patrick (hubby) and I decided to get away from it all for a while yesterday, late afternoon/early evening, just to clear our minds and just get away. It was good for us both. We even brought Bud, our dog. :) We spent time along the lake and did some hiking and then on our way home, he suggest I took this turn .. for more scenic shots. I saw this off to the left and thought wow, how peaceful. The tall grass out there looked so soft and the sky was so pretty, after days of clouds and no sun, and lots of rain and storms, this was a welcome site to see. I thought I'd share it with you. I dedicate this to Patrick; my husband of 23 years ... we are now facing yet another special time in our lives when our babies are all growing up and Graduating and going to college. Life just keeps getting better and better, and seems we always have so much to live for, and look forward to ... and appreciate. Thank you all for your time, support & friendship. I hope you know just how much I appreciate YOU. Have a beautiful day, Shari

The detail and light play are great. I think I may have cropped off the top 1/3 of the image, I think this makes the composition stronger, like a full panorama. It also concentrates the viewers eyes on the wonderful band of clouds.

The color you brought out (during post work?) is just wonderful and is a well layered composition now. I love it that you and Patrick spent some time together, the results are spectacular to say the least.

I can only say that I once felt like you as my 3 children took flight. Then I realized it was me and hubby ... no diversion ... no spontaneous confusion...I miss it. At least I found a hobby. LOL Lovely, peaceful shot. Fabulous postwork.

Houston, Tranquility base reporting.... A lovely and heartfelt narrative, Sharilyn. Now, if they would only do something about the obscene cost of gasoline!!!! That would make me extremely happy and tranquil. That said, a gorgeous stretch of plains and sky displayed in this wonderful panorama, young lady. The sun must have been very low in this shot. Although, on the down side, an oversized and much too bright frame. (Harry's just an old meanie.)

A bit late signing Shari so I hope the party went well, and I know how proud you must feel that your first born has graduated. It is indeed a time for all sorts of mixed emotions, I time of happiness and sadness mixed together, happy that he as passed through one stage of his life but sad that now he has to leave for the next stage of his life. Dependent on which college/university that he has his heart set on of course. Forever the mother hen looks after her chicks, but comes the time they have to make their own way in life. We can but point them in the right direction but cannot make up their minds for them all of the time. I am sure things will work themselves out, and that you will come to realise all the emotions were just that, we all have them and 99 times out of a hundred, there was no need to worry at all. I wish your eldest and the rest of your family all the best for the future, I am sure each of them will make you proud to be their mother. A wonderful image and a place of peace, a place of rest from the hustle and bustle of the day. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

What a beautiful and serene image. This brought tears to my eyes as I was married for 23 years. A beautiful dedication and cherish your sweetheart every day. Congratulations on the graduation and Bless Your Heart, I can understand all those emotions. A beautiful image and a lovely place to "chill".

I'm in the same boat. My eldest daughter, Jessica, graduated from college in 2006. She now lives in Brooklyn, NY, and works in Manhatten. My youngest daughter, Allison, lives in Seattle. She has been attending Seattle Central Community College while she established residency. This fall she will transfer to Evergreen. Even though it seems that you are at a crossroads, remember that you still have to get them through college. I really didn't feel the way you do until my youngest moved to Seattle. That is when it hit hard! A couple of years ago, my daughter gave me the book "1000 Places To See Before You Die". After eliminating 1/2 the places, since they were just uber-expensive resorts, and adding a few locations of my own choosing, we've been trying to see all these places. This is what got me into photography again. I look for views such as the one you present here. Very nice photograph!
