Description
This year has had many more hummingbirds at the feeder than last year. There's at least two pair nesting in the pine trees just a few feet away from my balcony and others visit to where I've seen up to 7 hummingbirds at the feeder at a time some evenings.
"Rufous Hummingbirds are small and compact. Except for their white chests and short green wings, males are rufous all over, the only rufous-backed North American hummingbird. Females are green above, with rufous flanks and rufous at the base of the tail, visible when spread. Their throats have a reddish central spot which is not always visible." (www.birdweb.org)

Great capture of this hummingbird. Excellent detail you've gotten on these speedy little birds.

Very nice. I've been trying to get a good shot of my lone male Anna's hummingbird for months, but he won't sit still long enough for me.

Excellent capture.

Very lovely and I haven't seen one in the "feather." We have ruby throats though. Gorgeous capture. You are lucky to have them so near.
