Description
ELR 1940's weekend, Alan and I got to the venue well before it opened and went for a bit of a walk round, feeling a tad peckish(hungry) we went to a sandwich shop for a bacon butty(sandwich), we're funny in the North of England. On the way I came across this sign in a shop window, I thought it somewhat funny, but on reflection I guess they do need lights for visitors or other family members. However I couldn't resist not taking the shot. I have over two dozen of this type of bulb and I have not bought one to date. My energy supplier keeps sending me free ones, and I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Just put this one in to break the war pics up.
Thanks for stopping by and for any comments you care to make.
May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are.
Overcast and cool where I am today.

makes one wonder why a blind person would need bulbs.just like at the mall early in the morning there are many people walking.what I can not figure out is why some with handicap permission tags parks in the handicap parking places when they go inside to walk.if they can walk that much,l why do they have the tags the incandescent bulb is nearly outlawed in the US.California has a law against them being used.can you imagine a knock on your door. I am the bulb police and I am here to check your house.you will be punished if you have incandescent.firing squad is ready outside

That is funny at first, but upon reflection makes some sense. Still, why not just get a low wattage bulb to begin with??? ;'D Nice of them to give them away for free though...

LOL, excellent shot !!

lol... Back here in SA we pay through our necks for these energy savings bulbs!!! Yikes!!! :)

I have these through my house now. They are a pain. They say you can't put them in an enclosed socket but I have ceiling lights that have globes over them...can't use them there. I bought a dozen myself but got the rest free in promotional campaigns. As for the blind and lights...when my mother-in-law went blind, she stopped buying lightbulbs. She didn't have visitors since she lived in a trailer on my property. She just entertained in my home if she did it at all. She really cut costs on her electric bill! I think this is a great shot btw. Makes me smile. :-)

LOL, one of those crazy things, like the shades you put in the windshield of your car on hot day. The warning says, "Remove before driving". I'm SO glad they told me, otherwise, I might just have driven away with it still in place!!

Oh lol !!!!!! some great comments here too. There are many unusual signs that we come across and some cracking ones on food wrappers like written on the underneath of Tiramasu from one of the big Supermarkets was DO NOT TURN UPSIDE DOWN, a chocolate nut bar MAY CONTAIN NUTS. we've all seen them but arn't they great! Excellent Jeff BTW I have hundreds of these low energy bulbs that have been sent free, but they last an awful long time!

I've got over half my house changed to these, made a HUGE difference already to the bill: students live in rooms with the curtains closed all day and all the lights on, the computer on full time, the phone and i-pod on charge, the TV on standby, then there's the microwave and of course the fridge! So these bulbs do help a lot! Who tells the blind about the notice?

It's a gimmick and it works. People will look and buy them. As for a visually impaired person he or she don't care.
jocko500
I got some of them too in my house. cool shot and fun too

The blind are capable of reading a non-Braille sign? Well done. In the US we have Braille at the "drive-up" teller's window. I once knew a person who was totally blind. He'd drive while the passenger would tell him where to steer the car. I don't think he did that too often.

Fantastic shot.
