Description

Located five months after disappearing during a freak electrical storm,Shuttleflight 292 was found abandoned on a desolate desert planet known as Mauritania by a trio of prospectors exploring the dunes for hidden deposits of Tirillium. The landing was apparently a fairly rough one,the craft slumped to the left,it's landing gear torn off.Scorch burns to the rear engine were proof of a fire, probably as a result of an electrical strike. There were survivors, the scattered debris of water and supply containers attesting to that, but with little shelter from the incessant heat other than a make-shift canopy of onboard blankets they wouldn't have survived for long. The on-board log's last entry stated the remaining three crew were going to attempt a trek to a distant mountain range some ten kilometres away,in the hopes of finding water and shelter from the scorching heat.No trace of them has ever been found. All items created in Bryce 6.1,shuttle is an old model I revamped and re-textured in presets combined with textures from cgtextures.com.Small details and some touch-ups done in postwork,as was the swirling sand and signature.Distant planet is a freebee from egehlin. Thanks for viewing and comments.

Very nice work indeed! A lovely Sci-fi image with that 'adventure movie cosiness' tucked in there too! Great at full size.

Excellent work Neil. You really capture the desolation and lonliness of distant places - something future explorers will have to deal with.

Terrific scene, competent texturing, and the little shelter on the far side of the foreground craft really brings the storyline together. The rope supports and used canisters are effective bits of detail as well. Nice work all around!

Wow, again great image Neil Love the makeshift tarp! Looks wonderful. Great work with the debris and the sand blowing, wonderful mood. The only thing I don't like is are the windows on the ship, with the reflection it looks like there isn't a cloud in the sky, but when looking at the image its very dusty... looks funny to me. Other than that, love it Jake
