Description

Photo from "Bjergeskoven" ("The Mountainous Forest") close to the Rold Skov forest in Denmark. The Common Beech (Fagus Silvatica) is the national tree of Denmark, and comes in many shapes and varieties. These gnarly ones I find particularly beautiful and interesting, also because they are found in a place that is one of the very few spots in Denmark, where the famous "Yellow Lady's Slipper" (Cypripedium calceolus) orchid is found. *** The majority of my posts in these galleries are renders in the Vue galleri, and some of my "beechtree models" have been critized for being not-so-realistic. Well, the beeches here are equally non-realistic, compared to the stereotype of the free-standing Fagus Silvatica :) And I do know what beeches look like *** Thanks for taking a look, comments etc. welcome and appreciated. Have a nice day - Lars

We have wonderfully gnarly trees in Cannock Chase Forest too and that's why many of my trees are made to look like that. I love them as they have so much more character than the straight-trunked lines of soldiers ;-) So I'm happy for you to make your Vue trees as gnarly as you want !!

Hehehe, I actually thought this was some really good Vue rendering too! LOL Guess that means your work is really up to grade then :) For a few seconds after first viewing the image, I stared at the thing, trying to figure out how you made such detailed grand junk in Vue? LOL Then I figured, oh, he took a foto of some leafs and then tossed in a few branches and sticks and twiggs and such to add to the realism. Then I realized, wait, this IS a real image hahaha :) .......md :)

Reality can be stranger than fiction. It's quite common that I look at some things in real world, like strange cloud formations, strange ways how plants grow, strange rocks, and I think "if I made that in Vue everyone would say it was not realistic". It's also funny to look at some photo galleries, in other sites. It seems many photographers try to capture the "weird" side of reality, trying to make it as non-realistic as possible, whereas Vue'ers try to do the other way around, making their images as "realistic" as possible. It's really interesting, if you think about it... specially because reality is many times "non-realistic". Thanks for sharing this image.
