Description

While exploring the ancient stones at Avebury, Wiltshire, England, a herd of sheep crossed over the earthen henge and this young lamb walked right up to me while I snapped away, sniffed my camera lens and then nuzzled my hand! It was the first time I had ever touched a lamb. The stonge henge at Avebury is the largest prehistoric stone ring in the world, four times larger than Stonehenge, older as well, and surrounds the entire village of Avebury with large earthen henges and ditches. Terrific POV and composition in this shot. Few creatures have the sweet disposition of a lamb.

There used to be a urban farm run by the council not five minutes walk from where I live, it was great for the kids to go and interact with the animals. I have some pictures somewhere of my daughter, bottle feeding a new born lamb, the mother died in birthing it. There is nothing like the feel of the wool on one of these wonderful creatures. A diferent feel altogether of an adult sheep. The farm started to make a loss after a couple of years, even though it won awards for it's cheeses made from sheep milk, ands its home made ice cream was something else. It closed about six years back and now stands empty, a great loss. Superb capture of this little beauty, I am happy for you that you managed to touch and feel this unique experience. Very informative narative, an interesting read. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!
