Description

I think this is called a "leafhopper." That's what he was doing, jerking me around so I couldn't get a good shot. Tiny little thing, no bigger than a fingernail. Took a few dozen shots and without viewing them I knew none were turning out. Finally on the last shot, I just held the camera close, pressed the auto focus and snapped. Wouldn't you know it, that was the only shot that came out decent. Photography is a very forgiving art, not like being a musician, where if you screw up everyone knows it immediately. It's still about 90% luck no matter how talented we often think we are.

Nice shot of a very young grasshopper. I have a shot that I will be posting soon of a small fella like that too. And you are right. There is a lot of luck involved in getting that right shot. Esp. with macro work. I took 160 shots yesterday, out of these about 20 were good, 5 were above avg. lol. But when you do get that one shot that makes you go "wow!", its all worth it.

Great shot. Reminds me of the time I tried to shoot a spider on her web on a windy day. I finally got a really good shot.

Definitely no operator "error" :) This is a tremendous capture of this little fella! Hard to believe he is that small, yet presented to us in such vivid, and fantastic detail...... I love the limey green colours, and the lighting does wonders to bring out such a marvellous capture!
