Description

As many of you know, Marilyn (beachzz) is here visiting. Yesterday she and I met up with Denise (MrsRatbag) and we galavanted all about the countryside! We drove up Whidbey Island, across Deception Pass, and came back down the mainland, taking little detours into Mount Vernon and Everett. We had a blast! (This is in Washington State, btw, on the West Coast of the United States.) Our first stop after getting off the ferry on Whidbey Island was at Useless Bay. I'd always wanted to go there, but had never quite gotten around to it. What a great place! It's about as shallow as you can imagine - hence the name. Our outing was quite congenial. Where one of us wanted to stop, the others were happy to go. We spent some of our time together, and some of our time wandering around separately, and a good time was had by all!

What a great capture! Nature's colours seem to harmonise so well without our interference, and you have presented this to perfection!

Its nice to be able to get together with like-minded people and go out like that... I for one grow tired of venturing out alone for my shoots. I have slowed down considerably. Great photo and composition!

I am always fascinated by the different types of sea plants washed up. This crab at least wasn't taken by a mammal or it would have been crunched and torn more for the body meat. This is a lovely shot with so much going on. I love visiting Flats when I can. It sounds like so much fun to be traveling about with you three. Perhaps one day...

Lovely, I didn't see any uncrushed crabshells myself; your colors came out wonderful in this capture! Very nice composition!

There's certainly a lot of different seaweed here and one unlucky dunginess crab. My favorite by the way could eat them all day. One interesting shot. All that seaweed it must of smelt good lol.

You mean there was no discontent between you three? All grins, "atta girl" and "no problem!"? I assume you were wearing your cowgirl hat, shorts and flip-flops during your safari thru Useless Bay. In any case, that must be a clam depicted in the above shot, Tara. Its nicely blended orange configuration clearly stands out amidst the dark underwater stuff in this great macro, my friend.

Why do we call it "Still life" when it's dead? Lol. Sure sounds like you three had a gas, thats what it's all about. The three of you would fit in nicely with Alan and I, we do the same sort of thing when we are out and about. We walk about here and there, stopping whenever we want to capture something, pointing out different things to each other, have a wander of in different directions. Only difference I see is we live ten minutes away from each other and we don't need to fly. Excellent capture Tara, how lucky you were to find a full shell like that, and it looks great with that coloured seaweed. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

I knew I'd love this just from the title. Gorgeous and natural still life, Tara. I bet you guys had a blast, sounds like so much fun and I love the areas you visited. A special friend lived in Mt. Vernon and I've heard so much about it and that area.
