Description

The air we breathe....VOG or Volcanic smog/volcanic air pollution. Tons and tons of Sulfur dioxide mixed with other gasses as well as ashes are emitted every day from two major vents. Then there are the fissures where lava is coming out and headed towards the ocean. When it hits the ocean, another dangerous plume of clouds develops. When the wind shifts, all the clouds of smoke sits right in our laps. Sulfur dioxide is a very toxin gas. It smells like when you first strike a match stick.....that initial smell. Most times when its thick, they recommend you to stay indoors. So here I am........outdoors taking pictures. Aloha and thank you for viewing

I've heard about the VOG~~pretty nasty stuff. Guess there's always something out there waiting to get us. This looks like a scene from a horror movie, the vapor rising from the swamp--great foto!!

Stay upwind, my friend. You don't want to breathe very much of that stuff, for sure. Great job of naturally framing this plume; excellent shot.

You must be glad that the trade winds blow all of that out to sea? Great capture!

...ja - übererall auf der Welt das Gleiche. Keiner nimmt Rücksicht auf die Natur - und wir atmen das auch noch ein. Trotzdem: Wunderbare Aufnahme!

Awesome view, and interesting dialog, had no idea that warnings would be given for something like this. Down on the coast, areas around certain refineries smell like rotten eggs, and that's just life down there. This does certainly look menacing!

Greetings, Just by looking one certainly does not know about the smell, for if we take the image just at ace value then i would way it is a magical place to be. However knowing about the toxicity I wonder how safe it really is. Thank you for sharing. egmont
