Description

My wife is with me on this hike and we had already finished a hike to "Mauna Ulu" . We started at the Kulanaokuaiki Camp site and made our own trails over this brownish lava terrain. Caution to the wind direction should be watched because of the sulfur dioxide in the area. When the wind did shift, we made sure we were well out of the area but not without some pictures. Interesting lobes of lava. Aloha and thank you for viewing Best when Zoom....

...super Aufnahme! Die Lava scheint einen Haufen Bäume unter sich begraben zu haben.

It does look like a giant earthworm mound. This is a very special view of this area. The brown lava is great!

What a fascinating display of lava! The most unusual and interesting I have seen, and for the brownish color also. I know you have mentioned that it is unpleasant, but is the sulfur dioxide so concentrated that it is actually dangerous, since your mentioned caution? A great shot!
