Description

I would like to thank everyone who commented and fav'd my last image. Your comments always make me smile and feel so great. Thank you! The keeper of the earth is not happy. She had given us the earth as a gift and is very upset that we have abused it. So her message is very clear: "Clean up the planet or I will take it away! No excuses." Hey, I'm just the messenger, we can do this...honest. (getting down off the soapbox) I am not sure anyone out there will remember the 'Merry Minuet' it was recorded by the Kingston Trio in 1959. I remember it in the 60's. Originally written by Broadway lyricist Sheldon Harnick with composer Jerry Bock. This satire was first introduced in 1953. And 55 years later nothing really has changed and has in fact, gotten worse. The names may have changed, but the problems haven't. Wouldn't it be nice to throw a war and no one came and we had peace. A nice thought. Intro: There are days in my life when everything is dreary I grow pessimistic, sad and world weary. But when I'm tearful and fearfully upset I always sing this merry little minuet: They're rioting in Africa They're starving in Spain There's hurricanes in Florida And Texas needs rain. The whole world is festering With unhappy souls The French hate the Germans, The Germans hate the Poles Italians hate Yugoslavs South Africans hate the Dutch And I don't like anybody very much But we can be grateful And thankful and proud That man's been endowed With a mushroom shaped cloud And we know for certain That some happy day Someone will set the spark off And we will all be blown away They're rioting in Africa There's strife in Iran What nature doesn't do to us Will be done by our fellow man. I hope we will pay heed, as Alexis has said with her beautiful images and ironic imagery. Little children of the seaside like Alexis learn something called the Sailor's Prayer, which says simply: "Lord, my boat is so small and Thy sea is so vast." This prayer translates perfectly for we sailors of the heavens: "Lord, our planet Earth is so small and Thy universe is so vast." Like the sea, too, the universe is largely cold, dark and deep, and only on our little boat of a planet are we safe. Only fools would fail to see that the Keeper of the Earth is NOT happy right now, or pretend not to know that we disregard her at our peril. Thanks, Alexis!
