She had given us the earth as a gift and is very upset that we have abused it. So her message is very clear: "Clean up the planet or I will take it away! No excuses." Hey, I'm just the messenger, we can do this...honest. (getting down off the soapbox) I am not sure anyone out there will remember the 'Merry Minuet' it was recorded by the Kingston Trio in 1959. I remember it in the 60's. Originally written by Broadway lyricist Sheldon Harnick with composer Jerry Bock. This satire was first introduced in 1953. And 55 years later nothing really has changed and has in fact, gotten worse. The names may have changed, but the problems haven't. Wouldn't it be nice to throw a war and no one came and we had peace. A nice thought. Intro: There are days in my life when everything is dreary I grow pessimistic, sad and world weary. But when I'm tearful and fearfully upset I always sing this merry little minuet: They're rioting in Africa They're starving in Spain There's hurricanes in Florida And Texas needs rain.
