Great shot. The roller in the front was to aid it traversing uneven ground like ditches. The M3 half track [also made by White] used the same roller and front end and in some models a winch.

Fantastic looking machine David, this is the trouble with static displays, it's nice to have the information on the boards, but do they have to have them so close. You would think they know that people want to photograph them and then the put bords so close you can't get the detail in the vehicle, or if not boards someone is stood leaning aginst the exhibit. Like the chap on the left side of the scout. I have these same problems every where I go, I sometimes wonder why do we do it? Lol. Superb capture. Bravo!!!!!
