Description

A supermassive star races towards its doom, gathering everything around it slowly to itself, even as it sears the area with twin high-energy jets from its poles. Soon it will reach its spectacular apotheosis, as stunningly beautiful in death as it was in life. But even then it will not be truly dead, it will seed the neighborhood with heavy elements necessary for the formation of life, laying the foundations for future generations of stars and worlds. ---------- I spent some time on the Hubble website, as NASA prepares to send a shuttle to repair and maintain this amazing machine who's changed our concept of the universe in more ways than we can count. The entire scene was created in Photoshop.
