Description

The South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton-in-Funess, Cumbria UK. GIRAFFE camelopardalis. the tallest living animal Average height 5.3m(17.2ft)for males and 4.2m(14ft) for females. The record height is 5,88m(19.1ft) Average adult weight is 800kg, the long flexible prehensile tongue can be extended to 450mmand is used to pluck leaves from trees.(acacia,mimosa and wid apricot trees). The giraffe usually sleeps standing up but occasionally lies down. In order to drink or to pick up food from the ground the giraffe spreads its forelegs far apart and well to the front or bends at the knee until its head can reach the ground or water level. The record running speed is 56km/h. The giraffe has the greatest range of vision of any terrestrial creature.

Now this is an outstnading capture Alan, timed to perfection, I think I have that same pink sleeve feeding one of the Black Swans. Superb work, the joy on the childs face is priceless, this would make a beaut of an advert for the credit card people. Has to be a fav for me. Bravo!!!!!

Fabulous capture, so much to see in the photo. A lovely expression on the childs face and also on dad's! I have seen many in their native land and they are truly one of the most intriguing animals on this earth.

A wonderful mood! A pic of fun and happiness. I can take a deep look into humanity, and that feels good. And the giraffe`s soft eyes - somebody spoke "gentle giant". I agree. You catched the right moment perfect, Alan!
