Description

My image today is more of an illustration. In fact, the images are really not great at all. What I am trying to do is to show you all how close we get to the animals when on safari in a private game reserve. Both these pictures were taken in the Thorny Bush Private Game Reserve in South Africa. The "eskimo" wearing the red hat in the small image is me trying to photograph the lion lying just next to the (open) vehicle!!! As you can see, he is in the shadow which explains partly the poor quality of the picture. I have indicated two lions with white arrows on the small image and there was a third just behind the bushes and not visible on the image! Please keep in mind that these are wild animals in their natural habitat.... [The vehicle is quite high but the physical distance between the vehicle and the lion was +- 2.5 meters!! It always give me such an adrenaline rush being so close to one of these gorgeous cats and I really wanted to share it with you!!! Thank you for visiting my gallery and for any comments to wish to make. Hugs, Carin xx

I know they must be used to these trucks and seeing humans, but still it must make the blood race to be so close to a wild and powerful creature, and knowing it could attack in a heartbeat! Thanks for sharing this. :)

an excellently presented and well-illustrated example of photographer nuttiness ;) and a nice shot of the lion too, you may not think it's great but i've yet to photograph one so always enjoy seeing others' shots of them!

Having just been reading about lion attacks on elephants in Botswana (as unintentionally pictured by an artist here today) I was very interested in reading your excellent description of how you get these shots. A coincidence maybe and very intriguing. Thank you!

I have to ask because nobody else has, 'how did you get a picture of the back of your head?' Lol. I am slightly puzzled also(a lot puzzled in reality) the lion looks like a young male going off the mane but yet he looks old in the face, I wonder how long he has been around? Fantastic capture, I would love to be sat next to you in the truck, I'm not a real gentleman cause I would want the inside seat, just to be on the safe side you understand. Roflmao. In reality I still open doors for ladies, when I come across one that is, and always insist Pauline walks on the inside when walking down the street(cars aren't that dangerous but muggers come from round corners). Right I will stop that one for now, the hole is getting too deep. Lol. Excellent work young lady a credit to you. Bravo!!!!!
