Description

Hello ! Yes I know. It could be better, but this best I could do from 10 shots. Taken near the bridge of yesterday. Oh and Marlene, it was a lovely day, but the weather was changing from lovely to furious from one minute to another all day, so we never went far from the car. I could show you many black clouds too :) Thankd for stopping by and for your kind comments to yesterdays post. :))) Have a splendid day. Here we got a little cloudy/sunny and mild weather and about 20C = 68F. Not bad at all.

This is a real knockout shot. It resembles more of a damselfly to me but they are even harder to capture well because they are so much smaller than a dragonfly. This is really stellar!

As suggested by MrsLubner, this is indeed a Damselfly and not a Dragonfly and they are indeed a lot smaller so much more difficult to capture. You did very well on this capture. This looks a lot like a male Ebony Jewelwing and the iridescent colors are difficult to capture also. Once again you did well. So even though your Dragonfly is a Damselfly, it does not change the fact that it is a great image of a very pretty bug. Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Lee

I remember, when we studied insects, that some of them have stunning iridescent colors. It's as if their bodies were made of metal. This shot captures that in its fullness, even with the little 'stinger' at the end. (Here it looks like a piece of metal attached, like a bottle-opener!) You got all of its shiny body-parts—they really look like parts of a big screw-driver—the reflection in its eye, and the wonderful webwork of its wings. Insects are some of the strangest creatures on earth; and close-up they almost look like the work of a crazy sculptor. You got the "sculpture" look as well as the real life look. And it looks as if you worked with him for an hour to get this pose. A wonderful macro, helle.

Wow!!! what a fantastic looking Damselfly this is, it looks like it's been in the body shop for a respray of metalic paint. I really envy you this shot, so perfect, and a difficult little critter to capture they zip about like crazy. Sorry it's not your first Dragonfly, but it is still something to be very proud of, the detail is fantastic. I think the best way to tell the difference between the two is the way they have the wings, the Damselfly are closed like this, the Dragonfly are open and there are two of them side by side. Check out Leeco's gallery, that is the best way I guess he has some fantastic images of both. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/browse.php?username=leeco Please do not be dissapointed, it is a sectacular capture and a five star for anybody. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
