Description

I promised myself that I would try more often to do different things outside of my comfort zone this year... So I decided to try to do something without any 3D elements, that didn't involve a portrait, using a very narrow pallette, no references and no real plan, lol. This image was painted from scratch in photoshop. I know I say this a lot, but I am not really too happy with it and think I could have prolly done a whole lot more than I did. I got to a point where I could go no further and here we are. Critical Comments Encouraged!! Please! ~ thanks for viewing

Wow! Very impressive painting! Before I read your description or noticed that it was in the 2D gallery, I assumed the ship was a rendered 3D model. I like the colors and ethereal feel.

If you painted this from scratch, you're incredibly talented. Great perspective, nice colors, excellent lighting, good mood.

It is a bit funny when you say your not really happy with one of your images and everyone else thinks it's another beautiful master piece. Ahh well, we are our own worst critics. This image is wonderful. The muted tones are elegant, as is the ship. Great work buddy.

This is a wonderful piece of artwork. That it's painted from scratch is VERY impressive! Great color tones and lighting. Fabulous detail on the ship. Nice atmosphere and perspective. This is really nice work. Keep at it! You're off to a great start in doing more like this (I hope). :)

Wow, you've created such an atmosphere here. Very impresive work. If I force myself to criticise, I guess I could say there could be more going on in the background, but then I look at it again and see how well the purity of the environment works so neatly.

its nice and a bit different - the light is rather David Roberts, i think, which is not what one would expect in SF.

I actually love the vagueness of the background and how well you've managed to establish some scenery with only a few well-placed details (especially love the towering obstruction with sunlight shining through behind it). I know you don't want to hear this but I think this may be my favorite image in your entire gallery. You keep working on it until you like it (or give up and do something new, whichever you want) but I still think it's neat that even your mistakes are so good. Keep experimenting, it's a fun thing to do.
