Description

Image #100!It seems like yesterday that I posted my first image here on Renderosity, and now here I am at this first milestone.I thought about posting a new image,or a retrospective montage of images that I've posted previous, but I finally decided to go back to that first image and see if I couldn't tweak it a bit with what I've learnt so far...so here we go... I took the scene and changed the camera view slightly, added a custom terrain backdrop and a custom sky and atmo. Then I textured all terrains in a bryce 6.1 preset. The figure was rotated to face the viewer, and her outfit was textured in a preset texture to look more like an android. The various Mech parts were re-textured in phototextures from www.cgtextures.com,combined with bryce presets.I added another terrain off-camera to add more shadow to the foreground, and some branches from Spacebones were scattered throughout to add interest to the scene...and there we are! Victoria3 from Daz3d,various cybergoth attachments and body armour from www.runtimedna.com,as was the Mech(a freebee).Rendered at premium setting with soft shadows selected.Postwork is signature only. Thanks for viewing and commenting on my first 100 images...I have made some great friends and received a lot of encouragement from your comments, and inspiration from each of your galleries.Maybe in another hundred images I'll revisit this image again!

Always worth tuning into your gallery! This is another great image with a fabulous atmosphere and viewpoint. A nice way to end the first 100 and kick off the second. I look forward to seeing more of your exciting and well-crafted work.

Wow, I went and looked at your first post, and compared it against this, and I must say it is incredible how much has changed! Those textures on the fallen mechs is fantastic, and the atmosphere and shadows are absolutely fantastic!

Great work Neil! I enjoyed making the comparison of the two images... such a vast improvement, its wonderful. I love the textures you used and the plant life aswell as adding a mountain in the background to finish off the scene, its wonderful. The only thing I don't like, is the characters pose. But I suppose you could get away with, trying to keep the scene as close to the original as you could... But I still don't like it... Great work, look forward to seeing what the second hundred will hold! Jake

I had thought of changing the pose, but I wanted to keep some elements the same in both scenes.I wanted the figure to have a sense of awe and shock at the same time,as she surveys the massive carnage of wrecked mechs...it could have been more dramatic I agree, but she is meant to be one element in the scene, not the focal point. Thanks for telling it like it is,as always!

Congratulations on your 100th image and what a great idea to revisit your first one. I remember commenting on that image and it was from looking at your gallery that I started modeling space-craft and doing my Bryce sci-fi work. This is a great repost, the textures are a lot better and I like the addition of the distant mountains. I think the darker atmosphere suits this type of image better and you've achieved a greater sense of scale by moving closer to the character and debris. Fantastic work as always and a surefire fave with me Neil. Here's to the next 100. Tony :-)
