Hi! If you have the slightest artistic leanings (and naturally, an interest in the digital medium) then you gotta love renderosity!BIOAbout me... hmmm, well, Art is a hobby for me (I'm an IT Consultant in the day job, and running your own business takes a LOT of time) though I'd like to spend much more time on art than I can at present. I am English, and I live in South East London. I'm Fiftymuttermumble*cough* years old outside, 24 inside. My passions in art terms are light and scale, really. I love travelling and would like to spend some time in the U.S. and Canada - ideally I would like to compose a photographic essay to show my view of what is a wonderfully diverse and exciting part of the world. I've sort of started...

Great sci-fi image Steve, cool modelling that shows off the whole scene really well. Don't know what other camera angles you have but maybe one that's close up to the structure enhancing it's sense of scale. Tony :-)

Great job modelling and rendering - DAZ could use this a advertisement for Carrara :)

Great scene.

Very well done...great modeling work, and the damage textures really add realism to the scene...I do think if you buried the ship slightly offset into the terrain it would be even better, but this is an excellent scene!!

Most Excellent!

Looks great! I like the overall sense of scale and your scene details. My only advice, having seen ancient plane-wrecks in the jungle, is to have some smaller under-story type plants sprouting here and there on the ship where enough wind-blown dirt and seeds might gather over the many years since the ship crashed. Just my .02 cents. Really good work.

wow, this is cool! nice modeling and texture work, great sense of scale. i must get around to learning c6 one of these days!

Excellent work. My advice...keep doing what you're doing. It's great.

fantastic, love the huge scale here.

I like that image. Very well executed. My advice: Carrara is sensitive on scaling. The scene looks a bit tiny, so maybe upscale the elements in the scene and go for a realistic atmosphere. The camera angle is great and the modeling fantastic. Just go on.
Simon-3D
cool image nicely done.

Excellent work so far. Can't wait to see it when you've finished it. Keep the camera angle.

I think the angle is fine, you don't want to loose site of how big this thing is. If you want a different feel try rotating the angle of your camera, it will give more of an animated feel to the scene rather than static, but I like it either way myself.

Great pic. I think an angle from the lake top looking at the hulking wreck disappear into the woods would be awesome. Is that damaged/woren element on the hull built right into your shader or is it an additional layer. I'm looking at aging one of my model for a similar wreckage effect, and was wondering how you got your amazing results here
originalmoron
Nice modeling and render.

Thanks to everyone for their kind and constructive comments. Kamperbeyond, a few people have asked me about how I have achieved the damaged effect so I have posted a short tutorial along with some downloads etc at http://www.zonescreen.eu/blog/derelict-starship-texture-tutorial/ hope this is useful. Thanks, Steve
ramzaforce
great sense of scale

Beautfully done! Enjoyed your tutorial.. Really helpful. Tried to down load the textures from your Tutorial down load page. Got the first, (Upper left hand corner) but the other three wanted me to log on to your FTP site? would not let me do it Anonymously.
RedSteve
Hi rawdodb, Thanks for the comment, sorry you had trouble with the files. I have PM'd you about it with some links, I seem to be able to get the files using HTTP instead of FTP for now so let me know how you get on. For anyone else having trouble till I fix the tutorial, please go to http://www.zonescreen.eu/dload And save the files from there using your browsers normal method for saving files.
