Description
As the Sun breaks over the edge of the hills, the delegation from the mysterious aliens first encountered eight years previously departs New Hong Kong. The visit - the first by the aliens to a human world - has been declared a success, though due to the aliens use of cylindrical environment suits we are none the wiser as to how they actually look. The superior technology they deploy was demonstrated many times during the 3-day visit, not least when their ship, originally though to be merely a short range craft, ignited its FTL drive over the city, the moment captured in this image. Fortunately damage was limited to cracked windows and some minor structural damage with no casualties reported. It is not thought that the damage was the intention of the visitors, but more a result of their not realising the nature of human construction, given that on their planet a pressure of 10 atmospheres is the norm, naturally their own structures would be somewhat more robust.
Or... whatever you prefer! :)
My first Vue 6 Infinite picture. I got frustrated by some of the limitations of Carrara 5, so decided to give Vue a try, inspired largely by czarnyrobert's fantasic work with Vue - check him out:

Details:
Vue 6 Infinite
City is a mix of modified stock textures on a height-mapped terrain, overlaid with StoneMasons Greeble City Blocks EcoSystem (bought from Daz), Dystopia City Blocks (bought from Cornucopia) plus a few other other sci-fi items, all with much modified textures. I have added a EcoSystem terrain for the parkland, and the alien ship in the foreground is my own model and texturing (it's the same ship as in my last picture, only this time in full spaceworthy order). This was modelled in Hex and textured in Vue, image maps created in Photoshop.
Rendered with a spectral sky with GI, and Postpro (titles and levels adjustment only) in Photoshop Cs3.
Hope you like it - I'm just loving Vue.
