Description

Hello All! This chimp family cooling down in the misty spray under the waterfall caught my eye ... it was real hot out so they had the mist'ers going full blast up under the falls. This family left the grasssy area and climbed up to cool off - I couldn't stop watching them there in the mist it fascinated me!!! I waited a long time there to try and capture interesting expressions. The larger chimp to the left was proudly waving around and displaying his prize - a pineapple top, that reminded me of the jungle book movie ( king Louie's crown) hehe...the one seated next to him ( 2nd left ) was clearly jealous of that pineapple top crown and wanted it but finally gave up and just watched him put on his show. The chimp on the far right was making the loudest calls and wanted to be the one that sat against the rock (attempted to move over there so he could rest his back a few times but got pushed down the rocks lol) there seemed to be a definate pecking order and rank there . The one next to him (second to the right) seemed to be really fed up with his loud mouth LOL!!.... I was so glad for the mist that cooled them down and also gave them a nice refreshing place to sit in their hot environment- it took me away to another place and time as I observed. They are so fun to watch and make me smile every time!!! I played with this in paint shop for quite a while as it was a 10 x's zoom and so it had its issues -a tad grainy ... had to put this up larger so that you could see the details of their facial expression and interaction here. ( still 1/4 its original size). Hope you like my little family cooling down here... This capture is for my Annie who just turned 17 yesterday and loves monkeys... SIGH))) =Geeze I cannot believe I am a Mom of a seventeen year old !?!! ... where does the time go for heavens sake? My baby is almost an adult!!! ...guess thats why picture taking is so important life goes by to quickly and have to capture a bit of it before its gone! I imagine someone looking at one of my pictures in a hundred years from now and seeing a piece of something from a time gone by and that is a happy thought to me!!! Thank you for all your time and comments!! Love to all~!!! ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ ♥ Kimmers :O) !!!

Excellent work Kimmers ... You've composed this wonderful shot of the chimps and misty water beautifully. An' Happy B-day to Annie though that's a bit belated at this point. :-) Well done.

Stellar capture and great postwork of the guys, sitting and conversing in the steam room at the gym. Probably talking about their wives. I've heard of Gorillas in the Mist, but not monkeys. And, chimpanzees are apes, and not monkeys, Kimmie. Of course, many people call King Kong a monkey, so whadda ya gonna do? Finally, where is Jane Goodall in all this?

This is so wonderful. Everything about this marvelous picture amazes me, from their expressions, to their activities, to their 'spa time'! (This really should be sent in to National Geographic!)

You never fail to find the best angles and moments and then capture them with unusual sensitivity. This is absolutely awesome. Monkeys in the Mist is a top of the chart winner in my humble opinion. Thank you for sharing. Lee

This is one stunning picture in every way!! The detail is just fantastic! Moments where we can be one with nature are the absolute best. Not only do we get to observe but partake. We can actually feel the movement of the universe. I do hope you have framed this!! I know one thing for sure if you entered this in a professional contest you would garner the blue ribbon hands down. There is not one thing out of place. One thing I learned in my photography group is that where water is concerned some judges are seriously picky. Here you have the best of both worlds, not only smooth movement in the water, but clarity in areas where the droplets and streaming can be seen. And the mist rises not only in a mist but gives the feeling of fog. You've nailed down every part in a picture that I've heard judges pick apart. It doesn't even need cropping!! A truly, truly captivating shot! It's too bad the rating only goes to 5, because I would give you 100!!

Wonderful shot, Kimmie!! It was well worth the effort to wait and get the best expressions, this is superb and the mist is the perfect touch!! As for size, I'm glad you posted it larger. With a larger monitor than I had before, it's the perfect size and just so much better for viewing details. If one doesn't have DSL, then I suppose using the 'resized' view works best, but I always view images full size. I remember you were asking about it before. Superb image, dear lady!

That's just too funny!!!! Now if you could only get them to do Monkey No Hear, See, and Speak, then you'd be accused of bewitching wild (albeit zoo) animals!! Excellent post work!
