Description

The car on the right is one I conceived in my mind in 1967 or so. Racers were looking at aerospace practice in self-sealing fuel tanks and reticulated foam. They were starting to wear fire suits. Sports car racers were moving from simple sometimes too short loops to full roll cages especially in coupes. The pudding bowl helmet was being replaced by full coverage like jet pilots wore but would continue in police and British bike use. I had read about Kenz-Leslie figuring out that Bonneville streamliners had to be narrow to avoid flips. Their 2 and then 3 flathead engine machine held the US speed record for automotive engined cars. I thought that the car should be flat on top to avoid lift. This of course is hard to do and still be able to see out. I picttrued different configurations but never drew one. This one I drew in 1987 after I visited the SATURN blank sheet dealer auditions. (I also drew a Dick Flint Most Beautiful Roadster Oakland memoriam that anticipated the Prowler.) I had not pursued the flattop in the interim as the GEM work especially with the Chapparalls seemed to give a more practical real world solution. The car on the left is just a series of spheres skinned over to help me to understand what was causing caustic shadows on nearly flat surfces of a Chevelle I had once owned that I modelled. If you already looked at the 002 then just hit the refresh button on your browser with the two counter cyclic arrows to refresh yor cache and 003 will appear.

The latest must have been just ouside the window when I chose the file. This is 003 what timtripp saw is 002. It was dropping one of her shoes. I had to give it a grossly different name in the originating application to stop that. Things that should not be necessary sometimes are -- necessary.
