Description

Taken at South Lakes Wild Animal Park a fantastic day out for all the family at Dalton-in-Furness near Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, UK. The baby in this shot I believe is just three weeks old. The White Rhinoceros(Ceratotherium simum simum), it is the only species of Rhino that relies totally on grass for food. It is also the most sociable of all the Rhinos with females and young living in small groups. Males will associate with these groups and mate with the females when they are in season. Rhino's rely mostly on their sense of smell and they have rather poor vision. Their hearing however is very good.
