Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)ÂÂ
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

A wonderful photo, dear Alan. Your pov is spot on leading the eye right into the distance. Happy hugs. Di. xx

An amazing thing! I presume no vehicles are allowed on it, or it would get spoiled quickly. This is a super pic, Alan!

Great perspective and way to lead the eye and add depth to the capture. I am amazed by these old roads and how solid they are.

Superb shot and wonderful POV! Beachzz beat me to it, if the bricks were yellow, I'd say that was the Emerald City ahead!

Isn't this is an old Roman road? If so, then it dates back to as least 495 A.D.

I have spent many happy hours up there Alan both working and playing radio. Wagons and tractors still use the road it leads up to an abandoned stone quarry that they want to reopen. Now that they have the windfarm up there, there is every chance they will be allowed to open in when they next apply. A precedent has been set now, by allowing the turbines to be built. Originally the road went all the way over to bacup, I tried going through in my car once but was forced to turn round after a couple of miles due to the road being dangerous. Excellent capture, I have a few similar to this but not as wide angle, I have been toying with going up to the end of the cobbles for a panoramic shoot. Also to the top of Blackstone Edge and Windy Hill. Superb work with this one mate. Bravo!!!!!

Great photo with so much detail, excellent POV, if I hadn't opened it up full I wouldn't have seen the grazer at the side of the road!

Beautiful perspective and capture Alan!

Follow the yellow brick road... only with air quality today I see that the road has aquired a bit of dingy grime... Stellar view. I love the way the brick road leads you without making a big deal out of it. A pleasant trip...

Super capture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the way the eye is taken to the far distance having first picked up the cobbles. And excellent shot. (Now all I need to do is to add some scantily clad elvish warriors to walk down that road on the way to a far off battle!) 5++ Dave

Excellent vanishing point type photo, lots to look at in full view at the end of the road. Tony :-)
