Description
I shot this image in the Thorny Bush Private Game Reserve in South Africa.
This elephant bull was in musk and very irritated and bad tempered. (You can tell by the wet lines starting just behind the eyes as well as the wet hind legs.) He chased us for kilometers!!! He would charge at full speed for a couple of hundred meters and then stop and "mock eat" while watching us the whole time. The next moment he would charge again!! It was quite an experience - especially sitting on the back seat of the vehicle with those tusks mere meters away... It is the closest I have ever been to becoming a shish kebab!! lol... This is certainly not for the feint hearted. The rangers are so skillful and our guy kept the vehicle just meters ahead of the charging bull... a definite joy for any photographer! (I have placed an image of the same fellow at full charge a couple of months ago!)
