Description

Hello again! This is a little dedication... a little dedication to all my friends and RR members here in the U.K. Your country is so rich of myths, legends, fairytales and stories - from the deepest past to our modern time, from Avalon and King Arthur to Tolkien and Harry Potter..... I found this living legend at one of my walkings here in Berlin, and I was surprised: Here? I don`t tell you were this place is, he would be not amused...... And a famous british musician was here, too, there must be a reason.... Thanks for your interest and your comments for my last pictures. Feel free to comment, fine or critical.... Good bye billcody

A little enigma for us Wolfgang, I do not have a clue as to who it may be, but it is in a wonderful setting, all the greenery about him. An excellent capture my friend. Bravo!!!!!

It's no fun being Jack-In-The-Green, no place to dance, no time for song. Another fine image in this series! I can't wait to see what's next ... dare I guess?

JACK-IN-THE-GREEN Have you seen Jack-In-The-Green? With his long tail hanging down. He sits quietly under every tree in the folds of his velvet gown. He drinks from the empty acorn cup the dew that dawn sweetly bestows. And taps his cane upon the ground signals the snowdrops it's time to grow. It's no fun being Jack-In-The-Green no place to dance, no time for song. He wears the colours of the summer soldier carries the green flag all the winter long. Jack, do you never sleep does the green still run deep in your heart? Or will these changing times, motorways, powerlines, keep us apart? Well, I don't think so I saw some grass growing through the pavements today. The rowan, the oak and the holly tree are the charges left for you to groom. Each blade of grass whispers Jack-In-The-Green. Oh Jack, please help me through my winter's night. And we are the berries on the holly tree. Oh, the mistlethrush is coming. Jack, put out the light. lyrics by Ian Anderson , Jethro Tull Dear friends, some of you asked what these Jack-In-The-Green is, and some recherche in the i-net had not the result that I expected. There is more then one meaning. I think, it is an very old celtic myth, as sort of nature`s ghost or stuff like that. But read the lyrics of this song for yourself; maybe there is a hidden meaning that I´m not understand as a German... I tried to get more information about Jack from the I-net, but it was not easy. There are different interpretations. Today Jack is part of the 1st of May celebrations, he is a sort of carnival character. Most interesting event is in Hastings, UK, every year. Thanks for your interest.
