Description

The Venaquoi and Ozculans carried their war with each other across the galaxy. They were careful not to drag the battles to advanced worlds and territories, lest those advanced civilizations chose sides and provided an advantage for that side. They, however, were not so careful about the primitive worlds, which dotted the spacescape. One particular, but seemingly unimportant battle, occurred above the planet Mortua. A small group of Venaquoi fighters dropped out of hyperspace and into the Mortuan atmosphere, followed closely by a larger group of Ozculan craft. After a relatively brief battle, what was left of the combatants, limped off into space, going their separate ways, oblivious to the ramifications of their actions that would reach far into the future. Drawn to the "lights" in their sky, the primitive, yet intelligent, bipeds that inhabited Mortua soon discovered the fallen spacecraft. Believing the wreckage, to be gifts from the heavens, the Mortuans built their religion around them, thus becoming the primary focus of their existence. Time passed, word eventually spread across their world and all would come to share the same beliefs. Due to their intelligence and single-minded focus, the Mortuans began to advance. In a few hundred years, they made the leap from stone implements to that of metal. A few hundred more and rudimentary machines were built. Their technological growth rate was astounding. Within 2000 years of that fateful alien air battle, the Mortuans had within their grasp, the ability to leave Mortua and visit it's moons. Another hundred years or so, with the help of the ancient wreckage, they had discovered hyper flight. Such rapid technological advancement was unheard of in the known universe. Unfortunately, Mortuan technology far surpassed their emotional and intellectual growth, as a people. The Mortuans, as a people, were highly aggressive, belligerent, and cruel. No compassion, no kindness, and no quarter for those who stood in their way... and thus, they unleashed themselves upon the galaxy. Five hundred years later, they had gained control of nearly half the worlds in their galaxy, with never before seen force and brutality. Footnote: The Venaquoi and the Ozculans would never see the results of their handiwork. In less than 100 years, after their "unimportant" skirmish in the skies of Mortua, they had completely wiped each other from existence. Carrara 6 Pro, Poser 7, Paint Shop Pro 9.
