Description
Some of you do lovely collages that were the inspiration for this photo combo. It requires a set-up to fully appreciate this vista seen from opposite directions. The key lies in understanding the meaning of the green and blues arrows in the center of the picture. Here goes.
Look at the panorama on the bottom. It shows Kapiolani Park and Diamond Head (an extinct volcano) as seen from a hotel I stayed at (to the right is Waikiki Beach). To figure out where the hotel was, look at the blue arrow on the right. If you follow upwards where it is pointing, the hotel is the first one your eyes make contact with. I was standing on one of the top floors overlooking this vista.
Now, look at the top photo. It shows the whole vista in reverse from the peak of Diamond Head volcano (located by following the blue arrow pointing downward).
Another great way to orient yourself is by using the green arrows. Both point to the same group of hotels at the beach.
By the way, if ever in Waikiki, do walk up Diamond Head. It's a hike, but well worth it (as you can see). Go early at about 8:00 a.m. to miss the crowds, and don't forget bottled water!!

I can't believe they allow building so near the coast edge, and so completely ruin those beaches which are affected!
