Well, Alan, you'll be thrilled to know that this hoverfly is called... wait for it.... Helophilus pendulus! A brilliant shot! I've got a pic of its cousin, Myathropa florae, back somewhere early on in my gallery.

I said I thought it was an Hoverfly, it was just a bit difficult looking on the camera screen. I also said it would look better when you uploaded it, I was right on that count. It does look better, it looks fantastic. I know he didn't hover for long as he had gone by the time I turned round. Lol. I know it was refreshing just going across the road to the Mill Pond. It used to look nicer than that a couple of years back, and there was always someone fishing. Excellent capture Alan. Bravo!!!!!

Helophilus pendulus! I knew it. straight face Great color and detail and the green and yellow of course a great contrasting winner element like always.
