More Shades of Green ~~~ by tennesseecowgirl

This barn sort of caught my eye. I stopped and talked to the older couple that lived there. I asked them if they didn't mind me taking a few pictures , and they said why of course not, they seemed sort of thrilled to have some company lol, even offered me some sweet tea, they told me they have seen people stop and walk down the drive way or park on the other driveway they had, but never had anyone ask permission. It always amazes me how friendly people out here can truly be. Before leaving and thanking them I asked them for directions to a Rock City barn I had been looking for, they knew exactly where it was and gave me excellent direction. And I will try to post some of those soon. Have a great night all, time for my nightly walk. Take care.

Great shot Lynell. I agree with you on how friendly country folks usually are. I drove east through Kansas in May 1978 and everyone that came the other way, and there weren't that many, waved. You only find this where time isn't everything!!!

another beautiful barn shot of yours...I'd love this on an entire wall...You got the beautiful slightly-decayed roof and the restful shadows that only barns can get; and all that beautiful frontal stuff, the peeling paint, the slightly irregular panels, the miscellany in front, and just enough shimmer in the trees to make it look 'visited'. Another of your captures of dignity in an old structure...and your story is really perfect. Someone's gonna have to hire you, that's all: You need the old Farm Security Administration from the Depression, where they paid photographers to go out and record the life of America. Considering that that life is fading, your work could be essential! Ah well, at least we have it to view. A beautiful shot...
